It's been a while...
I don't get the chance to update this blog nearly as much as I would like. Things are going alright; got a show tonight, the arm is still a little tender and gets tired pretty easily (for those that don't know, I was recently attacked by 70 pound pit bull who got my arm pretty good). Production school is going pretty well, we have recently been learning about intervals which has been really cool. We are mid way through the eight weeks of class and I can definitely see some growth in my production/musical knowledge. It's been great! and I'm very excited to continue learning. I'm also all set up for the fall semester for school and after the fall I will have one semester till graduation! (at least from that school that is). So...things are well! Wish all the best for the blogosphere out there! I'm hoping to add another section to my story pretty soon, I've got some ideas just haven't decided where I want to go with it yet.
Till next time blogosphere!

Love's lost (a developing short story)
Lucille walked briskly up to Reginald grazing his left cheek with the palm of her hand. “I just can't take it reg! Know me or don't know me at all" she says. Lucille shifts her weight and turns around trickles of tears rolling down her cheeks past her mouth. She swiftly walks away holding back from turning around to Reginald’s pale white oblong face. "What to do" he wonders as he stares after his love as she gainfully entered the shadows. Reginald decides to let her go and give her time, continuing down the cobblestone walkway solemnly beside himself. Reginald gasps reliving the moments previous in his mind. Minutes later a familiar sound comes to form ring ring. Reginald reaches into his pocket and pulls out a slick black mobile and answers it "Hello" he says. Lucille responds in a high pitched tone on the other end "It's just shameful reg". Reginald responds in a forgive me tone "aw luc I didn't mean it" she interrupts "I will not tolerate that manner reg, I'm a lady "Lucille chastises.”But" he says, Lucille interrupts again "There's no excuse for that behavior, what are our friends going to think? A round the world journey without any purpose, reg are we not civilized?" Reginald responds in kind “You gotta live a little luc it's part of life if you don't take the opportunities that come to you, you'll miss out on them." Lucille scoffs at Reginald "What indignation and I can't believe in such falsies." Reginald responds "It's just one trip you and me love; no cares, no worries what's the harm in it?" Lucille ponders Reginald’s words, images sprawling through her mind of the two of them walking on a sandy beach on a hot summer’s day, breeze flows southward as they walk towards the cliffs just below the eventual sunset.

Swing, Swing, Swing!
I'm making glenn miller proud, cuz the blog today is all about swing and big band!
Joke of the day
Q: How many IT guys does it take to screw in a light bulb?
A: None, that's a Facilities problem.
(Being an IT I can make this joke)
For years I've been a big fan of swing, way back in the day I used to go to a club called bricks (now called sound) for their swing night. We would learn a couple moves and then take it out to the dance floor to give it a try. Swing gets you movin and shaking and the dance sequences are amazing.
Let's start off with a classic
Tex Beneke and the Glenn Miller Orchestra-In the Mood
Benny Goodman & His Orchestra - Sing Sing Sing
The verb "to swing" is also used as a term of praise for playing that has a strong rhythmic " groove" or drive.
Swing music, also known as swing jazz or simply swing, is a form of jazz music that developed in the early 1930s and had solidified as a distinctive style by 1935 in the United States. Swing uses a strong anchoring rhythm section which supports a lead section that can include brass instruments, including trumpets and trombones, woodwinds including saxophones and clarinets or stringed instruments including violin and guitar; medium to fast tempos; and a "lilting" swing time rhythm. Swing bands usually featured soloists who would improvise a new melody over the arrangement.
